A bunch of links

I’m afraid I’ve had a week, I’m not quite well, and I haven’t gotten enough sleep. Poor me.

Seriously though, my essay on home spaces that I’d planned for Sunday just isn’t ready yet. And, as you might know, it’s Monday too, so I wasn’t even able to get this your way on time. Sorry about that.

There are some extra links to sweeten the deal, though. Expect a regular essay letter next time.

Linkage

📚 I haven’t read this year’s Nobel Prize in literature winner Jon Fosse, but this interview from 2022 makes me more interested in doing so.

💿 Sad to see what’s surely the decline of Discogs. I’ve bought plenty of rarities there in the past, although it’s been years now. It’s just nicer to look for them in physical stores, and I’ve been able to. Also, I guess, it’s due to reissues and more places that sells vinyl records these days. Still, apparent greed (percentage on shipping costs?!) looks to be its downfall.

🤴 Unity CEO is out after the royal fuckup mentioned previously, none of which is addressed in the official newswire statements, obviously. And, unsurprisingly, it does not magically rebuild trust from game developers.

🚽 Silly toilet scrolling piece.

🛢️ Oil is the new tobacco? Maybe, Shell’s Fortnite campaign aimed at young people certainly feels like it. Icky.

👩‍⚖️ Tiktok is too addictive, so there’s a lawsuit in Utah.

🖖🏻 Nice interview with Sir Patrick Stewart. I’m going to pick up his memoir, but the gems are at the end here, so you might want to skip there.

🐰 Oh come on! LEGO Animal Crossing coming next year.

👀 Nice addition by Firefox to protect your browsing from prying eyes.

🐌 Gen Z young women are slowing down, and they call that lifestyle choice “snail girl”, which is perhaps an unfortunate choice of words. Anyway, anything that questions the hustle culture is a good thing in my book. You go girls, just go slow.

♻️ Disposable tech, called e-waste here, is not good for the environment. I know, I’m as surprised as you are… In all seriousness, I fail to understand why disposable vapes are even allowed. Maybe cutting the redundant charger plug from phone packaging wasn’t such a bad idea after all?

☺️ My friend Salomé: “We need to be gentle with each other.”

Got something I should read? Send it to me, either by replying to this letter, hitting up tdh.me on Bluesky, or any of the other means that appeal to you. Thanks!

📚 Other than yesterday, I haven’t had the energy to read, a disturbing sign. In other words, I’m still on Small Favor by Jim Butcher.

🎵 I did some painting this week, and for some reason I picked Bob Dylan’s Infidels as painting music. It’s a great album.

📺 Given the horrors in Gaza, I’m glad I finished Fauda a while back. Watching Painkiller now, although it’s not nearly as good as Dopesick was.

🎮 My addled brain has survived some Mortal Kombat 1, and sessions of both Battle for Polytopia (which is getting a big update, it seems) and Slay the Spire.

Sorry for being late with this issue. I expect to be back to regular publishing on Sunday. Until then, remember to breathe, and get some sleep, if you can.
