Last week’s linkage (week 3, 2022)

The Bored Horse newsletter goes out to subscribers on Fridays, free of charge. One section in said newsletter contains links to things I found interesting, things that are not, in fact, published on Bored Horse because it appears that there are other websites on the internet, too. Who could’ve known?!

Anyway, these are the links from last week’s newsletter.

📧 Email provider Protonmail keep fighting the good fight, this time showing (and blocking) trackers in emails. This is a feature Apple’s Mail app has, as well as Basecamp’s Hey email service. It should be standard everywhere.

🙀 OpenSea went down, and that sparked various stories about how vulnerable the NFT scene is when a major player has problems. Naturally, many pointed out that Web 3 isn’t at all decentralized in a reasonable fashion. I’ll have to think further on this, all the while promising not to make Bored Horse another boring crypto-bro publication.

(I don’t own NFTs or any crypto currency, by the way.)

🐻‍❄️ Enough nonsense, this is important! These polar bears are living in houses, and that’s all you need for now.

🛁 No? Okay, how about a capybara long-bath contest?

🙉 Lifehacker tells you why you shouldn’t click that unsubscribe link in illicit spam emails and texts. That’s today’s PSA.

That’s it for this week. I’ve had very little time for reading, and most of it was fiction anyway.

Want to share a link with me? That’s what Twitter’s for, just hit me up, and it might get featured here.
